last year, my swim coach was telling jokes and took a “pollock” joke and made it a “mennonite” joke. in short, i definetly wasnt offended but wanted to see if there were any jokes where the humor centered around “mennonite stereotypes.” a google search of “mennonite jokes” was all it took to find these, from mennonite publishing sites even! i told them at our next practice.
(i saved my favorite one for last)

death. why does it affect our emotions instantly? whats worse is when i don’t “feel anything.” If i’ve never met the individual, the news of death seems only informational. even when it’s a friend’s friend’s sister, all i can offer is honesty expressing my sympathy and apologizing for not knowing their discomfort.
sometimes the transition into reality comes quick. being involved in EMT ambulance service, i once overhead radio transmissions of a cardiac arrest. gripping… definetly, but i found out a day later that the transmissions were about the mother of a co-worker at a christian summer camp. i was shocked and even caried guilt that i’d witnessed such an event, albeit via radio.
although i don’t understand “the world” or “war,” i do know that the life that i live for christ should never involve such a judgement upon another as death.
random and unorganized…. i’m off to eat “midnight breakfast” at the ‘rot.
anyhow, deeper thoughts are surfacing here in K305
enjoy the day…
Until midnight tubing last night, i had never broken a bone in my body. sure, its a slightly fractured rib, but i’m thankful. it has to be the easiest break to treat. oddly, you do nothing except take some pain pills and “take it easy.” so yeah the timing wasnt so hot. it happened on the 2nd run down the hill. leaving little fun before-hand. plus it snowed almost a foot of that nice packy snow last night. instead of partaking in snowfootball and snowball fights, there i was standing still taking pictures. ah well. its all good, thanks to pills and a health insurance plan.
live on, i’m definetly going back to that tubing run in 2 weeks.
